Cookie policy
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on catandtray.com, what they are for, and how to accept, refuse or withdraw your consent. In the United Kingdom these rules come from regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit a website. Other technologies work in a similar way, such as browser storage (“localStorage”) and pixels. Some are strictly necessary for the service you ask for; the others need your consent.
2. Strictly necessary: no consent needed
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| q4_consent_v1 | Browser storage (our site) | Remember whether you accepted or refused cookies | 6 months, then we ask again |
Fonts are hosted on our own servers: your visit does not contact a third-party font service. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., may use technical security cookies to protect the Site against bots and attacks; these are strictly necessary.
Our online check stores nothing on your device: your answers stay in the page and disappear when you close it. To improve the check we count, in totals only, how many people reach each step; these counts carry no identifier and read nothing from your device.
3. Advertising measurement: consent needed
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta, on our domain | Recognise your browser to measure visits and purchases from our Facebook and Instagram ads | 90 days |
| _fbc | Meta, on our domain | Store the identifier of an ad click | 90 days |
| fr | Meta, on facebook.com | Advertising and performance measurement | 90 days |
| q4_xid | Us, on our domain (cookie and browser storage) | Random identifier that links your visits and purchase in our advertising measurement; sent to Meta only hashed (SHA-256) | No more than 13 months from creation |
The Meta Pixel loads only after you click “Accept all” or switch on advertising measurement under “Customise”. If you click “Reject all”, or have not chosen yet, we set no advertising trackers and send nothing to Meta, from your browser or from our servers. The banner appears as soon as you arrive; you can also choose later, for example on the order confirmation page. We remember your choice for 6 months. See Meta’s privacy policy.
4. Change or withdraw your consent
You can change your choice at any time, as easily as you gave it: click “Manage cookies” at the bottom of any page. If you withdraw consent, we stop advertising measurement and delete the Meta cookies set on our domain and our “q4_xid” identifier. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
Payment
When you click a buy button, you go to the Stripe checkout page, which uses its own cookies for payment and fraud prevention, as described in its policy: stripe.com/gb/privacy.
